Being Our Patient

Dental pain and decay can affect your child’s daily life. He or she might have difficulty in eating or concentrating in class. Your child could also face the embarrassment of having a decayed tooth. The Tooth Truck team works hard to ensure that your child is not afraid to smile.

Your child may be eligible for high quality, comprehensive dental care and treatment at no cost to you through the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, known as the Tooth Truck. Any child between the ages of 3 and 18 that qualifies for the free/reduced school lunch program is eligible to receive free treatment on the Tooth Truck, regardless of whether or not you have Medicaid coverage. The Tooth Truck is available for qualifying children in its service area regardless of the school they attend. Transportation needs to be arranged by the parent/guardian. The Tooth Truck does not provide services to children residing outside of its current service area (Springfield, Billings, Clever, Republic, Walnut Grove, and Willard).

Even though The Tooth Truck is a mobile office just over 200 square feet in size, it still has the ability to provide a full range of dental services, including x-rays, cleanings and sealants, root canals, fillings and more. Not only do we strive to provide healthy smiles for local children, we also educate them on the importance of good oral hygiene and how to properly brush and floss to ensure their new, healthy smiles last forever.

How it Works

A child’s initial visit to the Tooth Truck consists of x-rays, a cleaning, and an exam, and additional appointments are scheduled to complete any treatment needed. In addition, our Dental Assistants will also provide oral hygiene instruction to promote healthy brushing and flossing habits. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile staff works with school nurses and other site contacts to prioritize children in need of dental services. Children receive the Tooth Truck application form from the school nurse for the parent/guardian to complete and return prior to the Tooth Truck’s arrival.
